The 2016 WPT Emperors Palace Poker Classic came to its conclusion on Sunday 16 October at around 22h30.

The series continued its success from previous series with over R12.3 million generated in entries!

There were some amazing moments throughout the series with many players suggesting that the WPT Emperors Palace Poker Classic 2016 was the best poker series they’ve ever attended. We intend to continue this momentum into the next major series taking place at Emperors Palace from 31 March 2017. Once again, we will present 10 tournaments as well as the usual mix of great value satellites starting in early March 2017.

All that remains from the October series is to once again thank all our loyal players, new and old, for your attendance and great positive attitudes throughout.

Now for the big moment as it is also time to announce the WSB Player of the Series.

We witnessed some incredible performances which included Carl “the gentleman” Myburgh, cashing no less than four times, these cashes included final tables at the High Roller as well as Main Event. Another stand out performance was that of Naven “keep them guessing” Naicker who made the Main Event final table alongside his win of the Big Roller Semi Turbo.  And then also we have to highlight the outstanding performance by Greg “cashing machine” Tucker who won both the High Roller and Turbo Bounty events. The list of achievements goes on; however, we feel that those three undoubtedly deserve special mention.

In saying this, there can only be one winner. After an unanimous vote from the committee, Des Godfrey takes the WSB Player of the Series title.

Des won his Main Event and High Roller seats when playing in our first WPT Golden Seat Satellite way back in September. He was one of the six players at this satellite to secure his Golden Seat, not forgetting that Des only spent a mere R 6 500.00 at this Satellite Invitational.

Des paroled his seats into the Main Event victory and the runner up performance in the High Roller. He did this without a single re-entry. Whether you consider this work or fun it still stands out as great value when one considers these four days of poker earned him R1.6 Million.

Although the other performances were amazing it will be hard for anyone to better the performance that Des put up at the Series.

Well Done, Desmond, super poker!

Congratulations to all of you who cashed with a special word of praise to the four distinct performances above.

Players, please check your emails and text messages over the next few days as we are offering some incredible Graceland Poker Series specials as well as finalizing our R500,000 Free Roll field. As always we do need your queries and confirmations ASAP.

See you at the R 500 000 November Free Roll and in Graceland for our first ever Graceland Poker Series (GPS). Furthermore, don’t forget to save the dates for the Emperors Palace Poker Series 31 March – 9 April 2017.

ShuffleUp Poker, Queen-Ten and Emperors Palace would like to thank all of the players, Maria Ho the tournament ambassador, all the dealers and finally the staff who helped make this series so much fun and a huge success.
